Getting Out of the Weeds

It’s not hard to get yourself pretty stuck in the weeds of business.

There’s a lot to do. There are tons of ways to do it. No one knows (for sure) what will work. You’ve got to try, fail, adjust, try again.

The people who haven’t done this for too long think that process will eventually end. That you’ll work up to a certain level and then everything will be great.

The folks who have been doing this for a while know this process is the game.

Trial, error, adjustment, trial, learning, trial, error, trial, accomplishment, etc.

The journey is far more productive if you learn to develop gratitude for the process.

Which is more gratifying? To watch a child walking or to watch a child learning to walk?

My choice is the latter. You get to see GROWTH happen before your eyes. The endpoints mean far less than the journey happening in realtime.

This morning, I recorded a short set of “pondering” questions for an Advisory Program member who is about to reinvent a few things in his business.

He’s been “in the trenches” for quite a few years (almost 20!) and a new level of expression is just around the corner.

I’ll share one of those questions with you, because it’s a good thing to think about every now and again:

What is the real message you are here to share with the world? This might be a message related to the subject area of your business or your business might simply serve as a vehicle (a Trojan Horse even!) to deliver your bigger message. What is that message?
